PARKS CANADA
CALGARY ZOO
RALPH KLIEN PARK

These illustrations were commissioned

by Parks Canada to encourage Canadians

to explore national parks. Shown are some favourite activities, including camping, mountain biking, hiking and bird-watching.

One of the illustrations features the animal

overpass seen in Banff, and also many of the foods that the Grizzly should (and shouldn’t)

eat.

To the left is a spread comissioned by Banff

National Park to make visitors aware of the muskox’s survival tactics, in that they shield their young in the centre of the herd.

The photograph in the lower left captures the media day of a public art installation which is now displayed permanently in Ralph Klien Park to highlight the unique creatures that visitors can spot in the park.

At the lower end of the page is a series of animal masks distributed by The Calgary Zoo in an initiative to educate visitors about six special animals seen in Western Canada.
